I got me some horses to ride on, to ride on as long as your army keeps perfectly still

Does anyone know about usenet newsreaders, like what's the best one, how expensive, and such? I don't really want to use GoogleGroups, and wah, I'd really like to get back to alt.books.stephen-king again.

I've only used Google Groups. It's annoying but quick to use and posts don't take that long to get up. You can link it to your Outlook, but I don't quite know how. Good luck to you!

Google Groups says three to nine hours. That's not a long time?

*wince* Okay, so it does take ages.

FreeAgent (http://www.forteinc.com/agent/index.php) is supposed to be pretty good. There is a pay version of it too.

Here's a list of a bunch of them: http://www.newsreaders.com/win/clients.html

You can supposedly do it from within Outlook, but I don't use Outlook, so...

You can also read from within Opera, but that's also a browser. It's my default browser, too. I like it. And it looks like Thunderbird, the free email client from Mozilla (like Firefox for the browser end) can do newsgroup reading.

I downloaded FreeAgent (actually did the 30-day trial thing), but it's asking me technogeeky questions, wah. I don't even know what an NTTP is. I am v. techhie-challenged.

NNTP is the address of your news server. It's likely something like nntp.cox.net, but you'd need to check with your provider. :)
