How I feel about it all: amusedamused
Soundtrack: Bob Seger - Rock and Roll Never Forgets
mr_t00by just called me, from his Textiles class at school in New Hampshire, to ask me the following question: Is Harry a half-blood (the answer, of course, is a resounding NO). Apparently there was discussion of this in said Textiles class.

Am v. amused.

Of course, it does depend on how you define the bloodlines in HP. In my mind, no he's not...but there are times when even Hagrid clearly doesn't think of him as 'pureblood'.

Okay...his mother is a witch, born of Muggles, sure, but noetheless a witch...and from all I've seen, his father, aye, all the Potter line, is of the WW.

Since Harry is the son of a witch and a wizard, he's a first-gen pureblood.

Exactly how I look at it, yes. But there are others who do not. And Jo herself has come closer to the side of 'no, he's not', with the Hagrid comments. *devil's advocates* Is that a verb, even? ;)

By Death Eater standards (which are eerily similar to Nazi standards for who was Jewish), yes he is, because Lily is a Mudblood and therefore no better than any other Muggle.

Yeah, but the ultimate decision isn't that of the DE's, thank the gods.

Harry's parents were a witch and a wizard...therefore, Harry is a Pureblood.

My understanding is that a child of a witch and a wizard is a pureblood. FIrst gen, yes, because he isn't from an old wizarding family like the Malfoys or the Weasleys. But still a pureblood. There are no Muggles in his immediate family.
