Talk to me, Harry Zidler, tell me all about it!

How I feel about it all: curiousUnitarian
Soundtrack: Nicole Kidman - Diamonds (are a girl's best friend)
The old Pope was in favour of the Harry Potter books.

The new Pope says that Harry is undermining the soul of Christianity,.

Now, tell me this: If the Pope is God's Representative On Earth, shouldn't one Pope agree with another? Or does God change His Holy Mind depending on a whim of opinion? Just who's in charge here? Or maybe since Ratzinger said it before he moved up to Popedom, maybe it doesn't count? Um?

Oh, and! Thank you, thank you, thank you to the person who anonymously donated FIFTY BUCKS to my AIDS Walk website and TWENTY-FIVE BUCKS to mr_t00by's website. Best early!birthday present EVER. *loves Pherooz Karani, whoever he/she is*

That article is a reproduction of another incorrect article. It's one case of 'if you see it on the net, it must be true'.

If you want the full story, you can read it here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/ataniell93/435843.html?thread=3209347#t3209347

I also heard it on the radio, I think (I know it wasn't on TV--I haven't watched TV in months). The actual quote's not as bad as the mis-quote, but it still implies something anti-Christian about HP, which I think does not exist.

I still think I like the old Pope better.

I don't know. Pope John Paul II was might conservative in many subjects, while Pope Benedict XVI was part of the Second Vatican Council. I have high hopes for this papacy.

I probably shouldn't be judging him so soon (especially because I'm not Catholic). I hope your hopes are right. :)

And that comment made me glow and encouraged me to fess up. february_sea, you are a sweetie!

Actually, it wasn't meant to be an anonymous post. I'm just a flake who can't correctly fill out internet forms (apparently I can do it wrong twice!). And, I'm a she; my name is Persian and means precious jewel. *grins*

I'm so GLAD I can support you and your son, especially since I'll be missing the Boston Aids Walk on June 5th. While you're walking, send a special thought out to my best friend John who is HIV positive.

I'm similarly confused by the conflicting views of the Popes. But, I'm often confused by the Pope so that's nothing new.

*snuggles you*

Got your email. Things are crazy at the moment, but it meant the world to me, and I will respond.

*sends love and energy to John, as well as primroseburrows and her sweet!son for walking*

*snuggles back* I'm so glad you weren't overwhelmed by the rabid fan-girling!

Thanks, on behalf of John, for the warm thoughts.

I'm getting v. excited! We'll make a day of it. Maybe do something else fun and helpful. I'm thinking that this is how birthdays should be celebrated.

OMG, thank you so much! I'm touched and humbled, really. I'll send good vibes out to John, I promise! *lights candle*

The Pope is God's representative on Earth when it comes to making Canon Law. Unless Benedict XVI is planning on passing a law about Harry Potter, which is so unlikely it's not even funny, he's free to disagree with the last Pope on anything he wants without breaking any rules.

Unless Benedict XVI is planning on passing a law about Harry Potter

I suppose he'd have to be pretty darn bored to do this. *g*
