I try to forget that the average snowfall every year is an outrageous amount. When I'm really feeling the house envy, I remember it. :)

Now, see, a bunch of us should buy it and make liek, a fannish commune. We could call it Fangirls Down North, or something.

...I'm glad I'm not the only one who has Canadian dreamhouses. :)

Not just Canadian dreamhouses, mind you. This is a Cape Breton dreamhouse. *loves*

In your dream, insist it comes "as is" so you get the furniture too.

For that price, I could deal with buying new furniture. But since it's my dream, why not go for everything? I'll keep the guitar, too. :)
I like that show where they solve all the murd3rs

This is just a tiny sample of the houses available in the area. The economy is basically nonexistent. Still, this is the heart of tourist country, so you'd think they'd be able to sell for more.

I've been surfing Cape Breton real estate sites for years. I've been thinking a lot about just going for it and getting a summer place (not discussing the fact that I'm currently broke and don't even own a winter place).

What's even more incredible is that the house I linked to? Is in Baddeck, in the heart of Touristland, NS, and it's still that cheap. The houses in Sydney and places that aren't so rural and/or picturesque (me, I think it's all beautiful, but that's me) are even cheaper, liek, dirt cheap. It's the terrible economy, unfortunately. *shakes fist at Jim Flaherty, et. al*

These pictures are gorgeous. I've never been to PEI, but it's definitely on the list. Cape Breton, OTOH. I've been there only twice, and both times in the winter, but y'know how one of their slogans is "Home of my heart"? Um, they wrote that for me. :) I'm hoping to get up down there in September. Dunno what I'll do when I get there, but I'll figure something out.

Both times I've been there the focus was mostly on Sydney and surrounding areas. We did get out to the Bell museum and the Miners' Museum (they were both closed and they opened up for us, because Capers are really friendly like that). The west coast is someplace I've been looking at (online) more and more. Margaree looks like a place I could get used to very, very easily.

I'm actually thinking of staying here. It looks comfy and cheap. It sure beats the Jacques Cartier Motel for not-boringness. And thin walls. Seriously, we heard way too much from the couple having sex in the next room. I spent half the night hoping the kids wouldn't wake up and force me to explain stuff.

good, dear, good

My original plan was to go to Celtic Colours. They changed pretty quickly when I found out that lovely DIL tapped_trish is due to have her baby just a few days after the end of the festival. I've been trying to get to CC for ten years, now, but somehow being around for the baby's a tad more important. *g* I'll go next year, though.

Dude. You don't need to sell me on Cape Breton, or the music. I'll actually be starting to learn the fiddle come September. I'm halfway thinking about doing the three-week fiddle program here next year. An adventure is in order, so yeah. :)

(Is my Everyone I Know Needs To Go To Cape Breton NOW! bias showing yet XD)

Is there a place where I can sign up? I'm all about the pimpage.
