And a program that would force people to have insurance like we do on cars?

I've always thought this was way beyond stupid. If you can't afford car insurance, you still have the option to not have a car. If you can't afford health insurance, then what? Opt out of having a body? FFS. :p

It's never made any sense to me. If someone is caught without car insurance, they can get fined and maybe lose their license for a few months, both of which are a huge problem as far as being able to make a living goes. I'm not sure what happens in this plan if people are caught without health insurance. What do they do, get fined and lose their right to see a doctor?

People are always pointing out the problems with single-payer systems around the world, but um. People aren't bankrupting themselves--or worse--because they can't afford to pay their doctors.
